Our lesson plans and educational activities were created with input from professional educators. We hope that you will customize them to fit your community, and integrate them into your classroom or home.

ZERO-WASTE WATERSHED
Zero-Waste Watershed began in 2021 as a response to the closure of school drinking fountains and reliance on single-use plastic water bottles during COVID. In partnership with the City of Flagstaff Water Conservation Division, our team identified a developing equity issue; students who couldn’t afford or didn’t have access to a reusable bottle went without water or relied on school-supplied single-use plastic bottles. We stepped up to meet this need and began providing free reusable water bottles to classrooms throughout Flagstaff
Today, with ongoing strong demand from local educators, we continue to provide hundreds of reusable water bottles to Flagstaff students each year. In keeping with Azulita’s zero waste mission, the majority of the bottles are purchased from thrift stores, updated with an Azulita Reduce-Reuse-Rethink sticker, and provided to participating classrooms. In 2024, Azulita expanded the program to include in-classroom lessons by a professional educator. Classrooms that sign up for bottles now receive programming that connects reusables to lessons about water conservation and waste reduction.
