Plastic pollution is one of the primary environmental threats facing our planet. At least 8 million metric tons of plastic material—equivalent to one garbage truck every minute—leak into the ocean each year.
Near the pueblo of Los Llanos, Mexico, plastic waste is often burned or discarded in local waterways. The Azulita Project incentivizes plastic collection through a community-based sustainable business model. By engaging residents and visitors, the project actively removes up to 1 ton of pollution per day.
